Calif. White Alder
Alnus rhombifolia

Fast-growing deciduous tree; very tolerant of heat and wind. Coarse dark green leaves; branches with pendulous tips. Native to water courses along west coast, so prefers plenty of water; deep watering recommended.
It is in flower in March, and the seeds ripen from October to January. The flowers are monoecious (individual flowers are either male or female, but both sexes can be found on the same plant) and are pollinated by Wind.

Use as a lawn tree, background, hedge or large specimen tree. Grows to 60' tall x 40'.
